The romance novel I'm reading (or trying to get through, rather) is like this enemies to lovers fake dating thing but the thing the guy hates the female lead for is just being female. He thinks women don't belong in his industry and he resents her presence and having to work with her and I just hate it. Why should I root for him? I want him to crash and die. 

It's not even like some kind of minor implicit bias thing, I could roll with that, esp since I know he learns his lesson in the end, but like. It's canon that he's publicly bullied female athletes and called their abilities into question. Before the fake dating thing comes about, his plan is to seduce the female lead so she'll lose her job and have her career ruined for sleeping with him. Like that's not "well meaning but a bit old-fashioned" that's just, like, sociopathic. 

Yeah I don't think I'm finish this one.
